This week FoNR committee members Sandal Hayes and Liz Gallie met at Ninney Rise with Kate Morschel and Rowena from the National Museum Australia. They had a tour of the house and we provided oral history. Both Kate and Rowena were familiar with the FoNR website and Iain McClaman's 'The Reef a Passionate History' and expressed how valuable the website and material is as a resource. They were impressed with Ninney Rise and very interested in the part the Ninney Rise story might play in a new dedicated exhibition at the museum on the Great Barrier Reef. |
The exhibition will cover deep history, indigenous history and the anthropocene age, impacts of man.
FoNR was delighted to be able to provide valuable information about this important period in our local history and appreciative of the advice and material they left with us including 2 folders of excellent resource material and links to guide funding opportunities, accessioning and collections policy data etc.
They are keen to include Ellison Reef in the story. I'm sure visiting Ninney Rise and the plaque has given them a lot of material to consider.
